I have started my own journey to become a firefighter and give respect to all who’s footsteps I follow. Although the event has concluded I will continue to carry his badge with his photo in his honor.

I wore his badge on my jacket as I ran in full turn out gear, air pack and all. As I picked up my race packet I was instructed to pick a badge, I drew blindly and picked Martins. I honored Martin DeMeo today at the Kronenwetter (Wisconsin) one mile fire fighter challenge run. Knew Marty in the Weber years…a very sweet guy – Suzanne Mercier We climbed the same number of steps that the NYFD firefighters climbed back on 9-11-01, in tribute to their brave service. It was my distinct honor and privilege to participate in our local 911 stair climb at Red Rocks Amphitheater in west Denver today (September 11, 2018), wearing the photo badge of Martin N. Today 9-16-2017 I climbed Lambeau field in honor of Martin DeMeo. He and his sacrifice will never be forgotten. I climbed 110 flights at Red Rocks for Martin DeMeo today on. Wishing peace and comfort to his family and all those who knew him. Grateful to remember the freedoms I enjoy, and for the perspective that the difficult things I experience are small in comparison to the horrific tragedy of that day. Grateful for the opportunity to think about the sacrifices that he and so many others made on that fateful day. Our ride this morning, was in honor of first responders on 9/11. I didn’t know Martin DeMeo, but his name was taped to my bike this morning in my cycle class. My prayers and sympathy to his family and friends. The sacrifice he made 15 years ago will not be forgotten.

Carried his name up 110 flights of stairs, rang the bell, and called out his name. Walked in honor of FF DeMeo today(9-7-14) in Richmond, Va at the 911 Stair Climb at the Suntrust Bldg. Mail (required) (will not be published).In Dallas alone, more than 150 agencies participate: city and county fire departments, EMS, Air Evac, police departments, military fire units, sheriff offices, volunteer rescue teams and the FBI. Each year more than 50 climbs are planned all over the United States. The women and men are committed to ascending 110 flights of stairs wearing full bunker gear – a hot and difficult endeavor. On the anniversary of that horrific day in American history, the Dallas Stair Climb says “never forget” to the survivors and families of those who died. Fourteen of dedicated firefighters join others on Saturday, September 9 for this event that pays tribute to the sacrifices of the FDNY firefighter killed during the collapse of the World Trade Center Towers on September 11, 2001. It’s one step at a time for the members of Plano Fire-Rescue (PFR) as they join hundreds of Texas first-responders for the 7 th Annual Dallas Stair Climb.
